Teenagers who have breakfast are healthier and physically more active

Teenagers who always have breakfast are healthier and physically more active, compared to their peers neglecting breakfast. This is the result of the research carried out by the University of Minnesota – the experts observed the habits and health of more than 2,2 thousand adolescents. As it turned out, the habit of morning food intake can be considered as a sign of a healthy lifestyle. Teenagers having breakfast are more often engaged in sports and less likely to get fat.
In America, 57% of young girls and 33% of boys do not watch their diet, 12-24% of them always refuse to breakfast. However, with age, the proportion of young people who refuse a morning meal increases. Researchers note that the idea to give up breakfast with the aim to reduce the number of calories consumed is dangerous. Breakfast helps us to not feel too hungry at lunch-time, and to not overeat before going to bed.
