As part of the project implementation,
needs assessment was carried out in each of the three regions, basing on which the FOCUS-MEDIA staff members
developed a training program for experts of non-governmental and governmental organizations working with youth and selected project participants on a competitive basis.
In 2009, four planned training seminars on the
basic social planning, fundraising, PR and media campaigns, as well as
new youth methodologies and technologies were conducted. As part of the training program, the project
participants developed their own projects aimed at involving young people in solving problems related to a healthy lifestyle (preventing suicide, drug abuse, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, promoting healthy lifestyle, in particular, sports, etc.).
60 people took part in the training program, 46 projects were developed.
Some of the projects developed are to be partially or fully implemented in 2009-2010.
Funds for their realization will be raised by the participants after fundraising events to be held in the regions independently or together with the FOCUS-MEDIA Foundation.
Thus, at the end of the project, a system of young people involvement in civic activity will be developed and implemented with the aim to preserve their health and develop leadership, a coalition of organizations and institutions (government agencies, NGOs, businesses) working with youth on preserving their health will be established, and a proactive network of young people interested in providing their peers with information related to health and life skills will be created. The experience gained in the course of the project implementation in the three pilot regions will be compiled and distributed to other regions of Russia.
